Speightstown is the second largest town of Barbados located along the north-west coast. Its specific character can be found in the architecture where historic buildings blend with modern style.
It gives you an image of a vibrant city where history is still alive. It is the only place in Barbados where you can see some of the original architecture and great buildings which used to belong to rich merchants.
There are many galleries in Speightstown where you can admire exhibitions of local artists. Be sure to visit Frangipani Art Gallery, Gang of Four and Caribbean Gallery of Art. Head to Arlington House Museum, housed in an 18th century building, which displays Barbados’ heritage and step back in time.
Take a walk along the streets and buy fresh fruits, vegetables and fish from local vendors. Have a traditional lunch at Fisherman’s Pub, which is a favourite with locals and tourists, and enjoy scenic dining experience while sitting on the deck overlooking endless calm waters.
Go for a stroll along the Speightstown Esplanade and watch incredible Caribbean Sea and sunset. The town is quiet and relaxing and it is a lovely place to wander around.
